((Work in progress))
Upon arriving in the Dwarven port, the port master informed the crew that there was a town hall meeting scheduled. The point of which was that the town was hiring mercenaries to deal with the orc threat in the north.
Shortly after that, the various passengers that the crew were carrying scurried off to where ever they were headed. Being on the somewhat suspicious side, Illeith’atharia noted that something was odd about the group of barbarians and decided to check the rooms they stayed in to make sure they hadn’t left anything. After realizing things didn’t look quite right, she gathered up Shroeder who then gathered up Trish who then attracted Jin. Between the group of them they figured out that some type of ritual magic had been cast in their boat.
At that point the crew scattered. Jin went to pump the streets for info about what was going on in town and Ur-gyse went to find someplace to drink at. Dak-o-do Dak-o-da and Oak both went looking for the barbarians that cast magic in the hull while Shroeder went to find more info about the spell that had been cast. Illeith’atharia snuck off searching for more Blood of Vol members.
While Ur-gyse was drinking himself silly, and Oak and Dok were unsuccessfully looking for the barbarians, Shroeder and Illeith’atharia ended up at the same place; an old magic shop in a sleazy part of town. Careful not to let her religious associations become public knowledge, Illeith’atharia stealthily followed Shroeder into the shop and listened to what went on there. After Shroeder left, she spent a little time doing an information trade with the shop keep; turns out that he was the Blood of Vol contact she was pointed to at the last cult meeting.
Eventually everyone returned back to the ship and shared (most) of what they learned. The ritual was something to make the ship easier to scry, and it would be very expensive to get undone; not to mention no one in town could do it. Those who had cast it were no where to be found. Many of the crew vacated the ship after that and many went to the town hall meeting to look for work.
There the crew volunteered for one of the more dangerous jobs the Dwarves had to offer; go deep into the mountains and evacuate a small monastery there. The crew got some gear and promptly left town, eager to make some cash to ‘fix’ their boat.
The trip up the mountain was fairly uneventful. Once they reached the monastery, they noticed the gates were open and there was a marked lack of Dwarves. They found them all inside; dead with an Orc witch chanting over them. The crew fought and slayed many Orcs there, and followed them down a deep tunnel near the alter.
On the long stairs down they encountered more Orcs, as well as a drake. Once they reached the bottom, they got the drop on several more of them interrogating the one loan Dwarvish survivor. A furious battle was fought, but the crew managed to kill all of the Orcs there and stabilize the last Dwarf…
